Project:City MarLoom Shade for Amber Denim

Evolution of traditional houses in Bangladesh has been a response to geography, climate, craftsmanship
and materials keeping rural architecture unchanged, showing sensitivity to nature which inspired this project
,sheltering ordinary people, fulfilling needs, satisfying the climate. The building placed within a natural
setting at a factory premise, outskirts of Dhaka; having simple and open layout. For running expenses, water
body, bamboo screen, high ceiling reduced electricity costs avoiding air conditioning, artificial lighting. The
materials are concrete walls, handmade concrete roofing tiles, bamboo screen, neat cement finish floors,
used in ways allowing easy replacement. It’s an attempt to achieve contemporary idea of practice under
Traditional Modernism, following basic vernacular principles, using locally available natural and crafted
materials, with modern amenities inside.
