Name: Sanam Ahmadzadeh
The corner building is located on a 7.5 meter wide land and in a dense street of classic constructions and in an average area of the urban structure in Mashhad. In the initial decisions, three important issues are challenged: – How to have quality light to all spaces. – How to understand and design the low width and height of the building. (width 7.5 * height 25.2 meters) – How to be simple, beautiful and practical. Answering these questions at the same time inside and outside was turning project limitations into opportunities. In the plan, a structural box between the masses was designed to prevent the twisting of the building with the entrances. The end rooms receive light from a private terrace and the third room arches towards the reception light. Creating a dynamic and fluid corridor takes the place of darkness and straight lines tolerated in this type of plans. At the same time, in the shell Outside, the terraces stretch across the width of the building to bring light deep into the house through large openings. The imposed space in the facade instead of being redundant and repetitive becomes a dynamic screen. It reproduces itself in the terraces and we try to reduce this long and low mass with the triangles created in the form. We look at it and measure the quality of each terrace and the view from inside and outside and the audience’s use of it. Triangles playfully accompany us and are inspired and designed in the interior components and other details of the project. At the end, a bench made of a single triangle is sitting under the shade of a single tree in the yard and invites you to watching forms.
